Before we start, I want to reinforce the importance of self-care and how it changed my life. Once you understand that nobody will take care of you and that self-care is a form of self-love, your self-esteem will never be the same. So, let’s get started!
#1: Drink LOTS of water
It may seem obvious, but this is the ultimate beauty (and health!) tip. Hydration doesn’t only come from moisturizers and other outside sources; 90% of it comes from the inside. And we all know that having pretty, healthy skin and hair is a synonym for having hydrated skin and hair. I know that sometimes it is hard to keep yourself hydrated simply because you forget or don’t know how much water is necessary, so here are two impeccable tips:
- Always carry a big water bottle that you can keep track of how much water you have drunk; I recommend it to have at least 500ml capacity and that you can easily keep track of how many milliliters you have consumed already;
- Calculate how many milliliters you must drink daily; it may seem complicated, but it’s pretty simple. Calculate your weight (in kilograms) x 35 = the milliliters you should consume daily. For example, if you weigh 50kg, your calculation should look like 50 x 35 = 1750. That means you should drink 1750 milliliters per day.
#2: Regarding skincare, “less is more”!
I constantly watch videos of celebrities and influencers showing off their multi-step skincare routine with thousands of products that are either unnecessary or ineffective. Although some people have specific skin problems, such as melasma or rosacea, which require medical treatment, every other average skin needs three things that one can solve in 3 simple steps: cleaning, hydration, and protection. Yes, exactly what you read. Suppose your skin doesn’t have a particular necessity. In that case, I strongly recommend you invest only in a good cleanser, moisturizer, and sunscreen. The choice of these three products can vary according to your preferences, for instance, if you prefer a hydrant in the form of cream or watery serum, and skin type, that is, whether your skin is dry or oily. However, for it to work, you should be disciplined and do it every day. Every single day! SPECIALLY YOUR SUNSCREEN!
#3: Hair oil
Using hair oil daily will 100% improve your hair, trust me! Even if you have an oily scalp, using oil is indispensable for the health of your ends. The problem is that many people don’t know how to use oil appropriately and don’t really like it, but with the proper use, it will forever change your hair.
- Find an appropriate amount for your hair length and texture; some people have thin or short hair, so they should use less oil.
- DON’T OIL YOUR SCALP! Use the oil only on your ends, even your length, but never on the scalp.
- Find an oil that suits your hair type and needs
EXTRA TIPS (how to use it):
- Use it 2-3 times daily on dry hair; apply to ends and massage it thoroughly.
- Use before your hair mask; after shampooing your hair, take all the excess water, apply your favorite hair oil, and then your hair mask. Leave it as long as the hair mask indicates, then rinse it.
