On Saturday, September 2nd, PASB had one of its main events, Field Day! On this day, families came to have a morning of fun at school, which counted on activities such as slackline, inflatable toys, Just Dance, and sports for Pasbinha and even smashing pie in teachers faces!
Field Day is a much-anticipated event in the school calendar. It’s a day that brings excitement, competition, and unity between students and teachers. It’s a day when the regular classmates’ routine takes a backseat, and everyone gathers outdoors to celebrate sportsmanship.
Moreover, the community promoted a series of fundraising activities! Colorindo Vidas, a non-profit organization founded at PASB, sold cotton candy and trampoline sessions in order to raise money for institutions for people with disabilities, such as Lar Vida, GACC, and the Instituto de Cegos da Bahia. The United Student Services sold water balloons to fund the construction of two houses for homeless families. PASB´s field day is when, no matter your age or grade, PASB people get together and become a true community.
Unity and collaboration are some values that Field Day promotes. It wasn’t just about winning or losing; it was about coming together as a school community, celebrating our diversity, and building lasting memories. Green PASB, the school’s sustainability office, was promoting its goals by collecting recyclable materials such as plastic and paper and collecting bottle caps and soda can tabs for Castrampinhas, a program that sells these items to recycling plants to gather money to spay stray cats and dogs. Also, the club was selling Capelinha popsicles to fund future sustainability projects.
PASB’s class of 2024 was focused on funding their graduation ceremony. To do this, the PASB Seniors promoted teacher dunks with teachers like Ms. McNew, Mr, Isaías and Mr. Pedro, and planned a pie-in-the-face trivia. Furthermore, PASB parents and team captains were asking for donations to fund an electronic scoreboard for the new gym and a drum set and sound table for the new music room. My recent field day experience was a day to remember; I can’t wait for the next one!
